Today, I'm excited to share one of my recent favorite dinners - sweet and spicy orange salmon. This is a healthy dinner idea that is quick and easy.
Ingredient
- An orange juice is approx. 1/4 cup
- Peel of an orange
- 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 3 tablespoons sriracha more or less to taste
- Salmon fillet, 1 1/2 to 2 kg total
Instructions
- Combine orange juice, orange peel, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil and sriracha in a bowl.
- Make approx. 1/4 cup sauce in a separate bowl for later glazing.
- Add the rest of the sauce to a shallow dish (or plastic bag) and place the salmon in a pan for approx. Marinate for 20 minutes, turning the salmon halfway.
- As the salmon marinates, preheat the oven to 400 ° F. You will need a rack in the center and top of the oven.
- Place a baking sheet with foil and spray with baking spray.
- Once the salmon is finished marinating, place the salmon on the prepared sheet, skin side down, and bake in the center holder for approx. 18 minutes.
- After 18 minutes, remove the plate from the oven and the reserved 1/4 cup sauce over the salmon filet with a brush (see note).
- Increase the oven temperature to 425 F and place the plate on the top oven rack.
- Boil for approx. For 2 minutes or until the salmon is crisp and brown.
- Serve!
Notes
Occasionally we separate the reserved 1/4 cup sauce into two bowls - one to brush the salmon before it dries and the other to sift over the finished pan. The salmon fillet I use has a thickness of approx. 1 1/2 ". If the fillet is thinner, you can reduce the cooking time accordingly. Usually, the fish is about 1/2" to approx. You want to cook for 6 minutes.
